Tara has a determination to guide this practice with a strong social conscience—expressed not only through the work produced in the office but also through an understanding of, and contribution to, the broader community context. She has an incredible group of clients such as Elizabeth Fry Society, Winnifred Stewart Association, Bridgeway connections, Li'l Einstein learning centre, Skills Society, The Humane Society, and Harmonize Family Services, as well as projects on reserve in 3 different nations in Alberta. To stay grounded in functional realities, she has ongoing commercial and industrial work, with clients like Colliers and Leduc Co-op, maintaining a particular interest in practical solutions.
My Story
Her passion in the overall industry lies in chipping away at complex systemic challenges, and leading real world practice of values, particularly in designing for and consulting with individuals who cannot advocate for themselves. Tara approaches each project with a heartfelt connection, seeking to uncover the deeper needs and aspirations of her clients through attentive listening and thoughtful, high-quality communication.
She worked in typical firms for a few years, and became disenchanted with the industry. She decided to become self employed from 2019 to 2021 with a determination to become clear about how real change can be made in the industry, then became co-founder of Claroscuro Architecture from 2022 to 2025. As her and the other Architect developed their portfolios over three years, their individual visions became clearer, and Tara was ready to lead her own firm her own way, and in December of 2025 Tula Architecture was founded, bringing with her her full roster of clients and projects.
In addition to her professional work, she serves on the Future Leaders Committee for CREW and the Education Committee for the CAA, where she mentors and empowers young women and emerging Architects, ensuring they have the support and resources needed to thrive in their careers. She also sits on the Consulting Architects of Alberta Board of Directors and serves as their Treasurer.
